Happy Fall!

I LOVE this time of year!  It hasn’t started to cool off much here in the south, but there are a few leaves turning colors, and I am planning to pull out my Fall/Halloween decorations this weekend, so naturally when I sat down to make a card this evening, I used some of my new goodies!  I was about halfway into making the card when I realized that the base was upside down!  Aargh!  I hate it when that happens!  Fortunately it was pretty easy to pull it apart and put it on a new base.

I stuck with just two colors for this one.  I had planned to do a monochromatic card, but I like this combo!  This is not a card that I would want to mass produce because of the fussy cutting of the leaves!  I really wanted to incorporate those cute acorns, but there was just no room.  I stamped off the background, and freehand cut the banner!

One Layer Card

I know it has been a long time since I have posted, but I promise I have been busy!  We decided to update our master bedroom, and for the last couple of weeks we have been stripping wallpaper borders, moving furniture, painting and hanging new curtain hardware.  We found an awesome deal on a comforter set and chose our colors based on that.  It is a huge change–we had those forest green walls and rose border for at least 14 years as near as we can remember!

So, now that we are done with our big home improvement project, I decided it was time to get back to crafting.  One of my coworkers asked for some basic “Thinking of you” cards last week, and I remembered seeing a nice one layer card done with the Wetlands stamp set.  I LOVE that set!  I am a beach person, so it’s really the little beach birdies that I like the best, and of course the sentiments are classic!  I don’t remember who made the card that I am CASEing, so if anyone knows, please tell me so I can give them credit!

I started out by making a mask with one of the smaller square framelits, and since I was using whisper white cardstock to do that, I reinforced the edges with some scotch tape.  I don’t know about you guys, but when I am sponging, sometimes I get a little heavy handed and end up with some strange looking smudges at first.  I just kept rubbing for a bit, and after it sat for a little while it seemed to even out!  Since I was using vanilla as my base (I know it looks white, but it really is vanilla!), I did not use black ink-the contrast was too sharp.  I really like how this came out, and I will probably make some others using different sentiments!

I really appreciate the sweet comments and thoughts from all of you!  Thank you so much for sticking with me, and I hope to be more regular in posting!  I have lots of new goodies to play with from the holiday catalog, and I can’t wait to share some fun projects with ya’ll!
