One Layer Card

Standard

I know it has been a long time since I have posted, but I promise I have been busy!  We decided to update our master bedroom, and for the last couple of weeks we have been stripping wallpaper borders, moving furniture, painting and hanging new curtain hardware.  We found an awesome deal on a comforter set and chose our colors based on that.  It is a huge change–we had those forest green walls and rose border for at least 14 years as near as we can remember!

So, now that we are done with our big home improvement project, I decided it was time to get back to crafting.  One of my coworkers asked for some basic “Thinking of you” cards last week, and I remembered seeing a nice one layer card done with the Wetlands stamp set.  I LOVE that set!  I am a beach person, so it’s really the little beach birdies that I like the best, and of course the sentiments are classic!  I don’t remember who made the card that I am CASEing, so if anyone knows, please tell me so I can give them credit!

I started out by making a mask with one of the smaller square framelits, and since I was using whisper white cardstock to do that, I reinforced the edges with some scotch tape.  I don’t know about you guys, but when I am sponging, sometimes I get a little heavy handed and end up with some strange looking smudges at first.  I just kept rubbing for a bit, and after it sat for a little while it seemed to even out!  Since I was using vanilla as my base (I know it looks white, but it really is vanilla!), I did not use black ink-the contrast was too sharp.  I really like how this came out, and I will probably make some others using different sentiments!
