Coloring with Blendabilities

When I first heard about Blendabilities, I wasn’t all that excited.  I never jumped onto the Copics bandwagon, and I didn’t do a whole lot of coloring with markers.  Frankly, it all sounded a little intimidating!  But, like the good little lemming that I am, I dutifully ordered some of the new blendies, because I NEED TO HAVE IT ALL!!!!  I did get to use them at Brian’s open house, and I’ve been reading about everyone’s experiences, and have watched some of the informational videos, so tonight I decided it was time to finally use them!

I opened my new pack of Park Lane DSP, chose my colors and stamp set and got to work.  It took awhile to color all those petals on the dahlia, but I really like how it came out.  I fussy cut the flower, and then colored the cut edges with the lightest cherry cobbler pen.  I also used the 2 way glue pen and added some dazzling diamonds to the center of the flower, because it was just crying out for some bling!  I’m wondering now if I should have used some rhinestones instead–maybe next time!  I could not find a current “Happy Birthday” stamp in my stash that fit the word window punch, so I had to use a retired one–time to add to my next order, lol!

PPA209-Masculine Get Well Card

I have been thinking about participating in some challenges because I get so much inspiration from seeing what others create, and this week I needed a masculine get well card, so it seemed like a good time to start!  I pulled out my favorite Moonlight DSP stack and found a couple of papers that looked fairly masculine, and got to work!  I only have one current get well stamp (the one in Sassy Salutations), so I decided to pair it with one of the images from Wetlands.  I have seen others use the Work of Art stamp to make a background, so I tried that out.  I found that I had to stamp off once so it wouldn’t obscure my image.  (true story–I knew that I had ordered-and received-the Work of Art set, but I have been looking for it for the last couple of weeks.  I also could not find the Paper Pumpkin kit that came in my initial order.  Yesterday I FINALLY finished straightening up my stamp space and I had tucked them away in a random grocery sack.  All this time I have been looking for a box, not a bag.  Sheesh!)

When I saw the sketch, I wondered how in the world I could make it work, but I am quite pleased with the finished product!  Brian King–do you see all those layers???  I’m learning. . . .

Stamp Camp

This evening I had five ladies come over for a Stamp Camp.  We had a great time, and I plan to make it a regular event!  Here are the five cards we made:

We love our PCT’s!

For those of you who don’t know, I am a Pediatric nurse, and I work with a fantastic group of people!  We have celebrated Hospital Week and Nurses Week, and today we honored our PCT’s (Patient Care Techs).  They help us in all kinds of ways, and it was nice to be able to thank them for their hard work.  We had a delicious breakfast (carb overload, anyone!!) and gave them gifts.  I was so pleased to be asked to make them each a set of monogrammed cards.  I have done SO many of these over the last couple of years, and they are always a huge hit!  I do not have a good alphabet stamp set, so I just print the letters off of my computer.  I choose whatever DSP strikes my fancy, run strips of coordinating cardstock through the Big Shot (everyone is fascinated by the embossing!) and finish it all off with a strip of matching ribbon.  Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!  I usually precut everything, and then put it all together while watching TV with Charlie. The boxes are made out of a single sheet of cardstock–it uses a whole sheet for a set of 8 or 10 cards, but this time I made sets of 6, so I had to trim it down a bit.

 

I made 5 sets, and have orders for 7 more!  Whoo hoo!  Happy, happy, happy!

Coloring with Blendabilities

I never did jump on the Copics bandwagon because they are so darn expensive–and I am no artist!  But, when I saw the new blendabilities from Stampin Up!, I decided to give them a try!  I love that they are square so they don’t roll off of my table, and I don’t love that they are SO hard to get open–but I know that they have to be that way to stay nice and juicy.  They are not kidding when they say that you should not open them close to your project–you risk getting splatters on your paper–don’t ask me how I know that, haha!  After reading about many other stampers experiences, I knew to use a very light touch.  I am looking forward to getting more of the colors and playing with them a lot more!

On to my project for the evening–I opened up my new pack of Flowerpot DSP and chose the crushed curry pattern.  I paired it with Old Olive–the combo of green and yellow just makes me smile!   I knew I wanted to make a clean, simple card, so I used a plain flower–I meant to pull out my most favorite new Hostess set-Bloom with Hope–but accidentally used a retired set.  Oops–  I also used Gorgeous Grunge as a background–I love that set!– and one of the tiny sayings from Petite Pairs.

Color blocking–an oldie, but goody revisited!

Whew, I have been holed up in my stamp cave for the past few days, working on a project that is due on Friday–so I can’t share it with you all until then!  I finished it up last evening, and then I just had to take a little extra time to play with some of my new stash!

When I saw pictures of the new in-colors for this year, I was a little underwhelmed.  But, when I got to see them in person, I was in love!  I can’t decide which are my favorites, but I definitely lean towards Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey!  I used those colors, and papers from the Moonlight DSP stack to make my card.  The color blocking technique is perfect for showcasing several different patterns all at once, without overwhelming a card.  I had to use my new “Just Sayin’ ” set, too.  “Hey There!” is such a perfect Southern sentiment, lol!

 

 

This was a fun card to make, and it came together quickly!  Hope ya’ll like it!

Happy Father’s Day!

I had so much fun making this card for the men in my life (love you, Dad and Charlie!) and for my co-workers, who snapped up 25 of them!  This is a design that has been around for a long time, and although it is pretty simple to make, it is very impressive!  Now, I cannot begin to tie a necktie in real life despite multiple attempts, but give me a 4×4 piece of DSP and an awesome you-tube instructional video, and I’m good to go! I carried on the theme this morning with my 3rd grade Sunday School class, and gave them these bags filled with candy for their Dads. I found the instructions for the bag and tie on pinterest, but actually just made bags out of a sheet of cardstock, and freehand cut a tie out of DSP!

I hope everyone has had a nice, relaxing day with their families!  We ate at Chili’s (LOVE their quesadilla explosion salad) and then came home and watched movies.  Funny story–my daughter and I stopped at Kroger on the way home to get a cake mix and we ended up accidentally buying a brownie mix instead of a cake mix–didn’t realize that until we were ready to pour the batter in the pan!–but that was AFTER we somehow got the spatula tangled up in the mixer and spewed batter all over us and the kitchen!  There was a lot of laughter going on in our house!  I’m glad to report that the brownies were delicious after all of that!

Hi, my name is Sharon and I’m a stampaholic!

I was introduced to stamping about ten years ago, and quickly signed up to be a demonstrator because I had to have it ALL!  I went inactive after a few years, but continued stamping.  After my current demo moved out of state this year, I decided to sign back up, so here I go again!

Like so many of us, I tend to hoard my papers, inks and stamps, and I have quite the collection of retired items.  I also had a LONG wish list after seeing our new catalog, and a very limited budget.  Between that, and needing to drum up some customers for my new business, I got busy making some cards to try to sell.  It was a lot of fun going through my stash and actually using it!  Here are some of the cards I made:

I didn’t take pictures of all the designs, but I’m happy to report that everyone loved them all, and I have a few leads for workshops.  Tomorrow I’ll share the Father’s Day card that sold really well!
